The New Prairie Cougars's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-45 win over Bremen. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Bremen is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading New Prairie to victory were Jolie Johns and Jayden Flagg. Johns dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Flagg scored 16 points along with 9 assists and 6 rebounds. The matchup was Flagg's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan White, who scored 8 points.
Bremen's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mikayla Shively, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Shively hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Emma Kincaid, who scored 10 points.
Bremen struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as New Prairie racked up 14.
New Prairie has yet to lose a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Bremen, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
New Prairie will be playing at home against Jimtown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bremen, they will head out on the road to face off against NorthWood at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. NorthWood is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
