Los Gatos is 8-2 against Mountain View since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Los Gatos is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
While Los Gatos' win against Wilcox wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats beat the Chargers on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4.
Ava Norquist spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Sickels, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Norquist, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Milpitas with a sharp 10-2 victory on Tuesday.
Mountain View also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Allison Marcelino gave up just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Raven Rasmussen-Dailey was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Caroline Kim was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Los Gatos pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Mountain View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Los Gatos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329.
