Baseball Recap: Laughlin Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Laughlin hadn't done well against Indian Springs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cougars never let the Thunderbirds get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Anthony Brookins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Brookins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.

In other batting news, Laughlin got a massive performance out of Bobby DeBoard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave DeBoard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrian Ruiz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Laughlin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Springs only posted an OBP of .375.

The victory (which was Laughlin's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laughlin will host Beaver Dam at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Indian Springs, they will be playing at home against Lake Mead Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
