Carlynton is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Riverview Raiders at 4:00 p.m.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Carlynton and Northgate, and Northgate kept the tradition alive. Carlynton fell just short of Northgate by a score of 10-9 on Friday.
Eric Firle put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Firle was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Connor Hart was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Mason Mulligan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Riverview put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jeannette a 15-0 shutout. Fans of the Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Like Carlynton, Riverview also got a great game from a two-way player: Johnny Bertucci. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Bertucci gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Tyler Aftanas and Miles Duncan did most of the damage at the plate: Aftanas scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Duncan scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Rece Stempfer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Riverview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jeannette only posted an OBP of .100.
Riverview's record now sits at 3-0. As for Carlynton, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Carlynton came up short against Riverview when the teams last played back in March of 2022, falling 3-0. Can Carlynton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
