It was a good run, but the Happy Camp Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-31 walloping at the hands of Hayfork. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Happy Camp has scored all season.
Happy Camp's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Day, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Luis Osorio, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Happy Camp struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hayfork posted 12 assists.
Hayfork found their leader in underclassman Levi Cavalli, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. Cavalli hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Bonelli, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Happy Camp's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Hayfork, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Happy Camp will square off against Surprise Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Surprise Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Hayfork, they will play host again and welcome Bethel Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bethel Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
