The Beachside Barracudas will be home for the holidays to greet the Bartram Trail Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beachside has three straight victories, Bartram Trail has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail six more threes than your opponent, a fact Beachside proved on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over ED White. Given Beachside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while ED White is ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morgan Cremen and Kendall Kane were among the main playmakers for Beachside as the former scored 13 points along with seven steals and the latter scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Cremen's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn (Madi) Ray, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Bartram Trail lost to St. Augustine at home by a decisive 55-41 margin on Tuesday.
Beachside's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Bartram Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Beachside came up short against Bartram Trail in their previous matchup back in January, falling 40-34. Can Beachside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
