Kayden Wilkins was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.
Meanwhile, South River's hitters rose to the challenge against a Bulldogs pitching crew that boasted an average of only 2.18 runs allowed on Wednesday. The Seahawks were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Bowie. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Parker Box spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Deshawn Branch, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Nolan Hooker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
South River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bowie only posted an OBP of .222.
Douglass' victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for South River, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Douglass has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .575. However, it's not like South River struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
