Spring is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Dekaney is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Spring Lions will take on the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Spring got themselves on the board against MacArthur, but MacArthur never followed suit. They breezed by the Generals on the road to the tune of 51-0. Given Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 324th, while MacArthur is ranked 861st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ahran Ogbor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was David Keith, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Dekaney got themselves on the board against Aldine on Friday, but Aldine never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 72-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Dekaney, who have now won three matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.
Dekaney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Jones, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Jones' longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of David Edmondson, who threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Their wins bumped Spring to 4-3 and Dekaney to 5-2.
Spring came up short against Dekaney in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 28-23. Thankfully for Spring, Brandon Joseph (who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
