Skutt Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Elkhorn Antlers 4-2. The four-run effort marked the SkyHawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Nate Christensen was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Christensen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Will Sims, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhorn struck out 13 times.

Skutt Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Elkhorn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Skutt Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Elkhorn North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Elkhorn will challenge rival Crete at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
