Despite their defeat, Fuquay - Varina saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Drew Willis, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Nathan Mathew, who scored 7 points.
Apex's victory lifted them to 1-1 while Willow Spring's defeat dropped them down to 2-1.
Apex came up short against Fuquay - Varina in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 64-58.
