Apex has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will square off against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Apex lost to Willow Spring at home by a decisive 56-39 margin.
Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Holly Springs 68-31. Fuquay - Varina was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Despite their defeat, Fuquay - Varina saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Drew Willis, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Nathan Mathew, who scored 7 points.
Apex's victory lifted them to 1-1 while Willow Spring's defeat dropped them down to 2-1.
Apex came up short against Fuquay - Varina in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 64-58. Thankfully for Apex, Dylan Setzer (who scored 28 points along with 5 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
