Softball Game Preview: Ebarb Rebels vs. Northwood Gators

Ebarb has gone a perfect 4-0 against Northwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rebels will challenge the Gators at 4:00 p.m.

Ebarb is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 9, 2024 on Monday. They lost 9-3 to Logansport. The Rebels have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Northwood made easy work of Oberlin on Monday and carried off a 19-4 victory. Considering the Gators have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jalen Ambrose, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Alaya Cornett, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Northwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .839. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

The win made it two in a row for Northwood and bumps their season record up to 16-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Ebarb, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.

Ebarb took their win against Northwood when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
