Baseball Game Preview: Woodbridge Raiders vs. Lake Forest Spartans

Woodbridge is 1-6 against Lake Forest since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. Woodbridge will be strutting in after a victory while Lake Forest will be coming in after a loss.

Woodbridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Polytech, who was ranked 11th at the time (Woodbridge was ranked 23rd). The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Panthers on Monday.

Evan Woodall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Woodbridge is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise. Woodall was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Moran, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daulton McCabe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Lake Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cape Henlopen.

Lake Forest's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Woodbridge, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Woodbridge suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Lake Forest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
