Make it 12 blowout wins for the Village Vikings this season. Everything went their way against St. Pius X on Friday as Village made off with a 59-37 win. Given Village's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Panthers are ranked 734th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Village to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaniya Williams, who scored 25 points along with five assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Village's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Rossini, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Village's win bumped their record up to 21-10. As for St. Pius X, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.
Village will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Incarnate Word Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for St. Pius X, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
