The Kaufman Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Kaufman turned things around against Greenville on Friday. They blew past Greenville 35-14. Kaufman not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 15, 2024 (when they won 49-21).

Elijah Rose had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 173 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Kaufman also got help from Dominic Saidu, who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Kaufman didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Greenville to a completion percentage of just 36.4%. The team can thank Dominik Carrillo for the heroic effort on defense: he. Kaufman has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.58 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.58 in their last three games.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Midlothian Heritage on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Corsicana out of the water with a 48-10 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-10.
Midlothian Heritage's win came from a few key players Kaufman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dax Montelongo, who threw for 136 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and one score. Za'Ko Davis was another key back, rushing for 120 yards and one TD.
Midlothian Heritage's record now sits at 6-3. As for Kaufman, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-6.
Things could have been worse for Kaufman, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-20 loss to Midlothian Heritage in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
