The Mankato East Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Faribault Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Mankato East unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 57-45 to Owatonna.
Meanwhile, Faribault's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 65-44 loss at the hands of Winona. While losing is never fun, Faribault can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Winona is ranked 75th).
Mankato East's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Faribault, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
Everything went Mankato East's way against Faribault when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Mankato East made off with a 61-41 victory. Will Mankato East repeat their success, or does Faribault have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
