Even though the Pueblo South Colts scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the Severance Silver Knights still came out on top. In a tight  contest that could have gone either way, Severance made off with a  59-58 victory over Pueblo South. The  victory made it back-to-back wins for Severance.
 Severance had a senior duo take command as  Brady Varney  dropped  a double-double on 20 points and 17  rebounds and  Jaden Hoffman  scored 20 points along with 6  rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which  Varney has scored at least 25% of Severance's points. Another player making a difference was  Damarii Wright, who  scored 4 points along with 5  rebounds.
 When it comes to explaining why Pueblo South lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Maurice Austin. Despite the final result, he  scored 16 points along with 9  assists and 7  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Andres Cura, who  scored 12 points.
 Even though they lost, Pueblo South  were working as a unit and  finished the game with 16  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Severance only racked up six.
 Severance's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Pueblo South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
 Severance will head out on the road to face off against Riverdale Ridge at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Hopefully Riverdale Ridge focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. As for Pueblo South, they will be playing at home against Widefield at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Hopefully Widefield focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
