After a string of three wins, The Southwest Roughriders''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 50-33 bruising from Stuart. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mitchell Stritt, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Nathan Rippe, who rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Leading Stuart to victory were Benjamin Paxton and Kayde Ramm. Paxton picked up 98 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Ramm threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes. Paxton was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 66 yards.
Stuart's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Simon Addison and his two sacks.
Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Stuart, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stuart will face off against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stuart in Nebraska (Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is ranked 17th, while Stuart is ranked 66th).
