Softball Recap: Smithfield Has No Trouble Against Jamestown

Smithfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Jamestown on Monday. The Packers blew past the Eagles 11-2. The Packers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Cheyenne Debusk was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Smithfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Jamestown, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Smithfield will square off against Bruton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.29 runs per game on average), something the Packers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jamestown, they will face off against Tabb at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
