The Western Wayne Wildcats will challenge the Lakeland Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Western Wayne, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Western Wayne turned things around against Wyoming Area on Saturday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-3.
Damian Glackin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Western Wayne: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-7 otherwise. Glackin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jamison Mccoullum tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Lance Maiocco and Ethan Lamberton did most of the damage at the plate: Maiocco went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lamberton went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Maiocco is becoming a predictor of Western Wayne's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Vinny Baldini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Western Wayne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyoming Area only posted a batting average of .120.
Meanwhile, Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Old Forge.
Lakeland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kody Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Miller has snagged this season.
Western Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Lakeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Western Wayne took their win against Lakeland in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
