The Miller County Pirates suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 85-39 defeat at the hands of Terrell County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miller County in their matchups with Terrell County: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Miller County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javiah Powell. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontravius Burr, who scored six points.
Terrell County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keavonte Anderson led the charge by scoring 16 points. Another player making a difference was Shaheed Huckaby, who scored 12 points.
Miller County bumped their record down to 5-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Terrell County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.
Miller County will take on Randolph-Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Randolph-Clay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Terrell County, they will head out on the road to square off against Quitman County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
