The Sandhills Valley Mavericks will head out on the road to challenge the Maxwell Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sandhills Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Sandhills Valley suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sandhills/Thedford by a score of 64-62. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sandhills Valley in their matchups with Sandhills/Thedford: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Leyton Connell, who scored 17 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Isaac Goosey, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Maxwell had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Brady with a 40-36 win on Tuesday. The win was just what Maxwell needed coming off of a 60-34 loss in their prior game.
Sandhills Valley now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Maxwell, their victory bumped their record up to 2-10.
Sandhills Valley came up short against Maxwell in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 47-43. Can Sandhills Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
