The Spencer Rockets will square off against the Cameron Comets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Spencer is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Neillsville/Granton on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Warriors. The game marked the first time this season in which the Rockets were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Cameron entered their tilt with Ladysmith on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Lumberjacks get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Comets have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brylee Viltz and Emerson Krahenbuhl were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Viltz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Krahenbuhl struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Viltz went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Krahenbuhl went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cameron got a massive performance out of Aubree Kreier, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs Kreier has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Larson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cameron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 13 consecutive matchups.
Cameron's record is now 13-5-1. As for Spencer, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
