After two games on the road, Savannah is heading back home. They will take on The Lafayette Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Savannah suffered a tough 34-13 defeat at the hands of St. Pius X.
Loss or not, Savannah got some senior leadership from Cade Chappell who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown and Kaden Calloway who gained 102 total yards and a touchdown. Chappell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run.
Even if they lost, Savannah's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: St. Pius X's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kegan Bechtold and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Lafayette's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Maryville, falling 71-14. While losing is never fun, Lafayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Maryville is ranked 22nd).
Savannah's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lafayette, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Savannah against Lafayette when the teams last played back in September as the team secured a 50-0 victory. Will Savannah repeat their success, or does Lafayette have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
