The Fruitland Grizzlies are taking a road trip to challenge the Weiser Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Fruitland sitting on 12 straight wins and Weiser on three.
Last Wednesday, Fruitland got the win against Payette by a conclusive 16-3. Considering the Grizzlies have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Coye Coffman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Owen Baker looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five contests.
Back at the plate, Fruitland got a massive performance out of Jameson George, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Landon Bushong was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Fruitland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Weiser won against McCall-Donnelly on Wednesday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Wolverines put the hurt on Parma with a sharp 17-7 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won four matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Wyatt Black, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-6. He has become a key player for Weiser: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5-1 otherwise. Kolt Sarich also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Fruitland's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Weiser, their record is now 5-6-1.
Both Fruitland and Weiser just can't seem to miss. The Grizzlies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Weiser struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fruitland took their win against Weiser when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
