North Hollywood is 8-2 against Chavez since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Hollywood Huskies will look to defend their home court against the Chavez Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Wednesday, North Hollywood ended up a good deal behind Verdugo Hills and lost 60-42. While losing is never fun, North Hollywood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 878th, while Verdugo Hills is ranked 366th).
Despite the loss, North Hollywood saw an underclassman step up: Caymen Smith scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Chase Guillory, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Chavez's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Arleta on the road and fell 75-25. Chavez has struggled against Arleta recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
North Hollywood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Chavez, they bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for North Hollywood against Chavez when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 51-23 victory. Will North Hollywood repeat their success, or does Chavez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
