Basketball Recap: Salem Sayers Baptist Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Salem Sayers Baptist Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They were beaten by the Sunnybrook Christian Lions 61-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Salem Sayers Baptist Academy has suffered since February 13, 2024.

Sunnybrook Christian was led to victory by Jay Williams and Gabe Minica. Williams almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals, while Minica went 9 for 16 en route to 20 points and seven boards. The game was Minica's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Anaya, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Salem Sayers Baptist Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5. As for Sunnybrook Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Salem Sayers Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southwest Prep Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnybrook Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
