The Bay Path RVT Minutemen will face off against the Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
While Bay Path RVT's victory against Assabet Valley RVT wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Minutemen skirted past the Aztecs 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Minutemen have posted against the Aztecs since May 24, 2018.
Max Lapriore was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Blackstone Valley RVT got the win against Montachusett RVT on Monday by a conclusive 8-1. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Max Pilkington, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Vosburgh, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Blackstone Valley RVT hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Blackstone Valley RVT pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Bay Path RVT, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bay Path RVT hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Blackstone Valley RVT struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
