Even though the Institute of Tech Eagles have not done well against the Chittenango Bears recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Institute of Tech walked away with a 52-45 win over Chittenango. For Institute of Tech, this counts as revenge for the 83-76 loss Chittenango walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bernardo Bortovski, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bortovski has scored all season. Jack Lamphere was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Chittenango smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Institute of Tech's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Chittenango, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Institute of Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chittenango, they will be playing at home against Westhill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westhill will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Chittenango surely won't give up without a fight.
