Pleasanton is 2-8 against Oswego since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pleasanton Blu-Jays will head out on the road to take on the Oswego Indians at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Pleasanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
After a string of seven wins, Pleasanton's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Uniontown.
Despite the defeat, Pleasanton got a solid performance out of Braden Baldwin, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Baldwin is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Mario Davis, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oswego also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Southeast by a score of 50-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oswego in their matchups with Southeast: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite their loss, Oswego saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Josh Hutchinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Jackson, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Pleasanton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5. Oswego's record now sits at 6-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pleasanton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Oswego struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pleasanton took their win against Oswego in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 67-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pleasanton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
