Person and Cedar Ridge are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Person Rockets will be playing at home against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Person is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They took a blow against Western Alamance, falling 77-39. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Warriors are ranked 24th).

Despite their loss, Person saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nayahana Marner, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Marner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Destyni Harris, who posted seven points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge lost 57-31 to Williams on Friday. The Fighting Red Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Person will have to keep a close watch on Kate Finnegan and Kassidy Tolliver, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cedar Ridge's prior game. Finnegan had six points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Tolliver almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.
Even though they lost, Cedar Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williams only pulled down nine offensive boards.
Cedar Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Person, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Person didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cedar Ridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 30-25 win. Does Person have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedar Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
