Holy Name is 7-1 against Valley Forge since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Holy Name Green Wave will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Forge Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Holy Name was fully in charge, breezing past Lakewood 34-6 on the road. Holy Name pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Lakewood had little chance of recovering from.
Holy Name can attribute much of their success to Xavier Rodriguez, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and William Dix, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Aiden Butler got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Valley Forge fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Normandy 40-37.
Valley Forge haved a senior duo take command as Ben Farson gained 182 total yards and four touchdowns and Daniel Kiewel rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Kiewel was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Their wins bumped Holy Name to 3-6 and Valley Forge to 4-5.
Holy Name beat Valley Forge 21-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Name since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
