It was fun while it lasted, but Selma's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Clay-Chalkville Cougars. The Saints were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in January of 2019.

Selma's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DeShawn Flannigan, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Flannigan is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquarious Bradely, who posted eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Selma fell to 7-1. As for Clay-Chalkville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Selma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-50 victory against Orange Beach on the 20th. As for Clay-Chalkville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-41 win against Pensacola on the 20th.
