Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Larimore. The Lions came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock added to the longest winning streak in A Region 1 this week by beating the Polar Bears, 28-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for Daniel Imdieke's team.
Briton Bussman threw for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 8-15 with 0 interceptions.
Bryce Meehl was a passing and rushing force as Oakes beat Park River/Fordville-Lankin. He completed 10 passes for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 73 yards. Meehl's key target this week was Kaleb Sell, who caught 2 passes for 75 yards.
Sell was the best receiver in the league this week as the Tornadoes topped the Aggies. Sell tallied 2 receptions for 75 yards. Cole Ehrlin helped Oakes' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 34 yards.
Oakes' Meehl and Ethan Zetocha have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Meehl has thrown for 1,548 yards this season, while Zetocha has 28 catches for 620 yards. Seth Abaurrea from Carrington leads the league in rushing with 831 yards.
The most important game in A Region 1 this week will be the match up between Greg Dobitz's team and the Lions. The Tornadoes enters the game ranked 19th in the state, while Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock ranks 21st.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Oakes takes on the Lions. The Tornadoes have allowed 64 points this season, while Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock has given up 104. Oakes allowed 7 points last week as it defeated Park River/Fordville-Lankin.
The Tornadoes took down the Aggies 33-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Meehl ran for 73 yards in the win.
