The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 95-29 defeat at the hands of Hamilton. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Hamilton is ranked fourth).
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Gloria Hines, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Kaliyahna Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Mountain Ridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hamilton racked up 28 assists.
Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savanna Creal led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Callie Hinder, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Mountain Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Hamilton, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Mountain Ridge will take on Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
