Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) snapped Hunt (Wilson, N.C.)'s 13-game winning streak, with a 44-0 victory on Saturday.
The Nighthawks were up 37-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Chris Ripberger touchdown run in the first quarter.
Northern Guilford expanded its lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. NG scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Austin Coltrane.
The Greensboro school put up 24 points in the second quarter en route to the win. The Nighthawks scored on a touchdown run by
T.J. Logan, a Logan touchdown run and a touchdown pass by Coltrane to Logan in the quarter.
Logan was the top performer for Northern Guilford. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 46 touchdowns on the season.
NG came into the game allowing 6.0 points per game. The Warriors came in allowing just 12.0 points per game this season. Hunt struggled against the Nighthawks, which came in averaging 39.3 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, Northern Guilford came away with a 29-13 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Hunt, which notched a 33-28 victory over Cleveland in its previous outing.
