The Bay Path RVT Minutemen will challenge the Uxbridge Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bay Path RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Bay Path RVT didn't have quite enough to beat Oxford and fell 5-4. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olivia Burgos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Bay Path RVT saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Sepulveda, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Uxbridge put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Hopedale get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Erin O'Day made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lola Grube was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Bailey Dzivasen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four runs.
Uxbridge's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bay Path RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Bay Path RVT's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Minutemen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Uxbridge, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bay Path RVT continue to outrun the ball?
Bay Path RVT might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Uxbridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Minutemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
