The Northlake Christian Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the French Settlement Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northlake Christian has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Northlake Christian came up short against Pope John Paul II on Tuesday, falling 12-4. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Abigail Willie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sydney Fraher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Evie Burns also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, French Settlement got the win against St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Jillian Cullen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dani Delhommer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Amelia Roshto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
French Settlement kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Thomas Aquinas only managed five hits.
French Settlement's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Northlake Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northlake Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like French Settlement struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Northlake Christian skirted past French Settlement 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northlake Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
