Basketball Recap: Meridian Skates Past Dongola with Ease

Meridian won the last time they faced Dongola and things went their way on Thursday too. The Meridian Bobcats breezed by the Dongola Demons to the tune of 82-37. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meridian was led to victory by Max Russell and Zion Stoner. Russell went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points, while Stoner went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points. That's the most points Stoner has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Cassius Woodson, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Meridian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Dongola, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Meridian has already played their next match, a 99-81 victory against McKinley Classical Leadership Academy on the 17th. As for Dongola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-60 loss against Eagle Ridge Christian on the 17th.
