Bishop Gorman and Arbor View are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Gaels will face off against the Aggies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Gorman will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Bishop Gorman made easy work of Silverado and carried off a 14-4 victory. The Gaels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
GIANNA HORNYAK made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. HORNYAK was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, SAMANTHA LEFEVER was a standout: she fired off two home runs while going 2-for-5. BROOKLYN HICKS was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Bishop Gorman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Arbor View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 7-2.
Audrey Melton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Malaya Tellis was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Madilyn Lowy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Bishop Gorman pushed their record up to 13-8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arbor View, their record now sits at 11-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop Gorman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Arbor View struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Bishop Gorman's way against Arbor View in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Bishop Gorman made off with a 10-3 win. Will the Gaels repeat their success, or do the Aggies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
