The Hammond Morton Governors will venture away from home to square off against the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hammond Morton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Hammond Morton came out on top against East Chicago Central on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Governors blew past the Cardinals 13-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Governors considering their two-run performance the match before.

Marcellous McQuay was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech entered their tilt with La Lumiere on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Lakers.
Noah Michniewicz was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin McKimmy, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Anthony Concepcion was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Hammond Morton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, their record is now 12-3.
