Washington has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Vian Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Vian likes a good challenge.
Washington had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to Meeker for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-7 win at home. Fans of Washington have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Adair typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Vian proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went Vian's way against Adair as Vian made off with a 45-20 victory. The result was nothing new for Vian, who have now won six matches by 25 points or more so far this season.
Vian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Masyn Wright, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 115 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Draighton Fletcher was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Washington pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.14 points. As for Vian, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Washington against Vian in their previous meeting back in August as the squad secured a 55-13 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Vian's Wright, who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Washington still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
