Basketball Recap: Brandon Extends Winning Streak to Four

Brandon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Northwest Rankin Cougars 60-58. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brandon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braelyn Bailey, who posted 14 points and six boards. What's more, Bailey also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Elijah Morey was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Brandon has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Northwest Rankin, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brandon will host Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwest Rankin, they will welcome Pearl at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pearl will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Northwest Rankin surely won't give up without a fight.
