The Tuckahoe Tigers will face off against Burke Catholic on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tuckahoe comes in on three and Burke Catholic on seven.
Tuckahoe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Thursday. They came out on top against Haldane by a score of 7-2. Seven seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jack Rideout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tuckahoe let Rocco Briante and Tyler Pian run wild. Briante went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI, while Pian got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Pian posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Marco Marcoccia also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Burke Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Bridgehampton on Thursday.
Tim Brogan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan DeMaro, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Drucker, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Burke Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Tuckahoe's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Burke Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tuckahoe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Burke Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .503. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tuckahoe couldn't quite finish off Burke Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
