Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Raton Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Michael's on Saturday. Raton has not had much luck with St. Michael's recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Raton still got an impressive performance from Cannon Walton, who rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Raton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for St. Michael's, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Raton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Michael's will look to defend their home field on Saturday against New Mexico Military Institute at 1:00 p.m. New Mexico Military Institute knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully St. Michael's likes a good challenge.
