Basketball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Arcadia Titans

Mesquite is 10-0 against Arcadia since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mesquite Wildcats will host the Arcadia Titans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mesquite has 11 straight victories, Arcadia has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Mesquite is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 120-20 win over St. Mary's. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matches by 24 points or more this season.

Mesquite had a senior duo take command as Navae Guidry went 13 of 17 on her way to 31 points along with seven steals and six boards and Lucy Fisher dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guidry's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Mehlberg, who went 6 for 8 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Mesquite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Arcadia played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 61-10 loss at the hands of Cactus Shadows. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-4.

Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Mesquite, they pushed their record up to 23-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Mesquite against Arcadia in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured a 99-2 win. In that match, Mesquite amassed a halftime lead of 62-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
