Liberty has gone a perfect 8-0 against Shadow Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will take on the Stallions at 3:45 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Liberty barely beat Boulder Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Lions have beaten the Jaguars the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Jaguars has come to flipping the script.
Abram Sherrin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Liberty got a massive performance out of Bobby Villa, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marley Chancey, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Apollo on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Stallions have suffered since March 2nd.
Liberty's record now sits at 16-8. As for Shadow Ridge, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-12.
Liberty beat Shadow Ridge 7-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
