This season hasn't been kind to the Liberty Chargers, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They fell 53-42 to Winter Park on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 571st, while Winter Park is ranked 181st).
Winter Park can attribute much of their success to Sam Childs, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Lockhart, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Winter Park, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Haines City at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Winter Park, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Oviedo at 7:30 p.m.
