On Friday, the Niobrara County Tigers faced the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Niobrara County's tough 67-46 defeat to Lingle-Fort Laramie might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Niobrara County has suffered against Lingle-Fort Laramie since January 17, 2020.
Lingle-Fort Laramie's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Cook, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Cook has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Roberts, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Niobrara County and nudges their season record down to 9-4. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Niobrara County on the road again on Friday and play against Burns at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Burns has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, they will head out on the road to face off against Guernsey-Sunrise at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Guernsey-Sunrise will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Lingle-Fort Laramie is ranked ninth).
