Rancho San Juan hasn't had much luck against Pacific Grove recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trailblazers will welcome the Breakers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Rancho San Juan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over North Monterey County on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trailblazers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Chelsey Misner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Rancho San Juan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pacific Grove had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 10-0 shutout. The Breakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Alex Giammanco made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Giammanco was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Savannah Hardy and Isis Turner did most of the damage at the plate: Hardy got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Turner went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kendra Pottharst, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Pacific Grove's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rancho San Juan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both Rancho San Juan and Pacific Grove just can't seem to miss. The Trailblazers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Pacific Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rancho San Juan suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Pacific Grove in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Trailblazers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
