Basketball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. North East Carolina Prep Husky

The Southside Seahawks will square off against the North East Carolina Prep Husky at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southside has four straight victories, North East Carolina Prep has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Southside didn't have too much trouble with Ayden - Grifton as they won 46-31.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than I'Kiriyah Minor, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. Minor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamya Smith, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North East Carolina Prep lost to Hobgood Charter at home by a 38-21 margin on Tuesday.

North East Carolina Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Southside, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Southside against North East Carolina Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 56-13 win.
